The five main characteristics and elements that every Hip Hop track needs to have to be classed as Hip Hop are: Melody Drum Pattern Rhythmic Melody  Bassline Synths Doing / Scratching Mcing / Rapping Break Beat dancing And Tagging / Grafitting  The instruments most commonly used in Hip Hop is: Hihats Snares A Roland 808 Drum Machine Heavy Synth and sample Basslines Synths Apple Loops Samples Heavy use of  808 kick drums with a Sub bass underneath My Hip Hop track has followed that instrumentation.  The Hip Hop we know today first started at a house party thrown by DJ Kool Herc (Clive Campbell) in The Bronx New York in the late 1970s.
