In Week 1 I Did some sequencing experiments of a few different genres and started my research of some different genres. I started to learn to break down the structure and instrumentation of different songs from different genres. I also had an introduction to the different parts of the studio. Then I started to work on the balance of different instruments and how the balances differs in different genres. And then on Friday I chose the genre I wanted to focus on for the project and I then started my research on it. I feel like I followed my plan for this week and I didn't need to change anything as it went well.
In Week 2 I started my sequencing experiment for the genre that I picked which was Hip Hop and then started to work on my final composition for it. I also started to use Ableton and further researched the Hip Hop genre to help in the creation of my Hip Hop track. I also learnt how to record using the mixing console in the studio. I then started to breakdown the structure and the instrumentation of the three Hip Hop songs that I chose to research as well as noting down the 5 main characteristics, the 5 main elements of Hip Hop and a little bit of history about where the hip hop we know today originated and who started it. I also continued to work on balancing the instruments of different genres where I learnt the balance of instruments used in Hip Hop. I followed my plan and only changed my mind on Friday from researching different genres to mainly focusing on Hip Hop as I felt it would be more beneficial for my project. I also had to write what the roles of 4 different jobs within the music industry were and name an example of a well known person from each role. Other than that the rest of my plan for that week was followed and it was fine.
In Week 3 I continued to work on my composition and finished it off. I then took what I learnt about mixing and compression and applied these effects to my track to give it an extra little boost so it sounds better and more professional. I then finished off my research and uploaded my final composition to Soundcloud where I then embedded it into my evaluation blog. I also made a padlet page where I put the Hip Hop drums experiment in and the different parts of my final composition in explaining what I made first and with the full composition at the end of it to show what everything sounded like all together. I then did a quick risk assessment and handed everything in. I followed my plan for this week the only thing I did as well was Ableton on Tuesday morning and researching a little bit of garage for that lesson too. Other than that I did everything on my plan for that week and just had to change Tuesday afternoon as I researched what a risk assessment was and how to write one to help me with my project. Due to the changes in my plan I was successful in what I needed to do for this week.
